The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southwestern Kent County in central Delaware...
west central Sussex County in southern Delaware...
Caroline County in eastern Maryland...

* until 930 am EDT

* at 425 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Two to three inches of rain
have already fallen across portions of Caroline County within the
last hour. This heavy rain will slowly move northeastward over the
next hour or two. Because this amount of rain will fall in a short
period of time... flash flooding is likely to occur.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Seaford... Denton... Federalsburg... Bridgeville... Greensboro...
Oakland... Ridgely... Preston... Goldsboro... Harmony... Andrewsville...
Agner... Smithville... Sandtown... Hazlettville and Henderson.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Driving into flood waters could put your life at risk and cost you
thousands of dollars in vehicle repairs. Flood waters may be deeper
that you think. Turn around and find an alternate Route.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 715 am EDT for
Sussex County...

At 350 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. As much as three to four inches
of rain has fallen across much of the warned area during the last
couple of hours. Additional rainfall could develop and move across
the area which could contribute to additional flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Georgetown... Seaford... Millsboro... Laurel... Lewes... Milton...
Selbyville... Delmar... Dagsboro... Millville... Henlopen Acres...
Sycamore... Gumboro... Cape Henlopen State Park... Long Neck...
Ocean View... Blades... Frankford... South Bethany and Dewey Beach.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 11 PM EDT this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening.

* Location... coastal New Jersey and Delaware and the lower
Delaware Bay.

* Coastal flooding... minor coastal flooding is possible with both
the high tide this morning and the high tide this evening. Tidal
flooding may approach moderate with the high tide this evening.
Note that there is also a risk of flooding due to heavy rain
through out the day.

* Timing... the coastal flooding is expected with the high tides
which will occur between 7 and 9 am and 7 and 9 PM on the ocean
front. High tide on the Delaware Bay and back bays may occur up
to two hours later.

* Surge... tides will be up to 2 feet above astronomical tides.
However... heavy rain at the time of high tides could exacerbate
coastal flooding... leading to total water levels even higher.

* Waves... on the Delaware Bay... waves up to 5 feet will be
possible.

* Impacts... roadway flooding is expected near both high tides.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually... the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged... leading to
costly repairs.

* at 336 am EDT... as much as three to four inches of rain has fallen
across the area during the last 3 to 4 hours. There is a break in
the rainfall... but additional rainfall could develop and move
across the area which could contribute to additional flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Georgetown... Milford... Seaford... Harrington... Lewes...
Federalsburg... Milton... Bridgeville... Ellendale... Andrewsville...
Agner... Smithville... Blades... Greenwood... Houston and Farmington.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Delaware...
northern Delaware and southern Delaware... including the
following areas... in central Delaware... Kent. In northern
Delaware... New Castle. In southern Delaware... Delaware beaches
and inland Sussex.

* Through late tonight

* widespread rain is expected to continue through the day and
overnight. Most locations will see rain totals of one to three
inches. However... isolated thunderstorms could bring locally
much higher rain amounts which could lead to flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
